Su was born and raised in Hoopeston, Illinois.  She received a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  After graduation, she was employed at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, and after retirement became supervisor at Crosspoint Human Services in Danville, IL.  She began her career at First Christian Church (FCC) Hoopeston in 2018.

At First Christian Church, Su is present for our visitors during the weekdays, and she is the friendly voice on the phone during those morning hours when our church office is open.  Su maintains the church calendar, distributes mail and handles general church email, prepares various serving schedules, maintains bulletin boards, orders office supplies, coordinates office volunteers, sends letters for special church occasions and observances, and providing general office support including printing of bulletins, newsletters, certificates, and other church leader’s documents.

Su is married to Mike Bane, has two children, five grandchildren and four dogs.  She enjoys reading, sewing, traveling, visiting with family and friends, and volunteering for various community services.

One of her favorite Bible passages is Luke 11:9-13.  She says, “This passage always reminds me that one only has to ask for blessings – or anything else – and God freely give them.  I always told my kids, if you just ask for what you need, you will find a way to get it, but you have to ask!  I cannot help you if I don’t know what you want or need.  No one has to go through this life alone; help is there when you ask for it.”
